Escape to Lake McMurray 200K Brevet (ACP) 3/17/2018

The 2018 SIR Super Randonneur series opens on Saturday, March 17, with the “Escape to Lake McMurray 200km,” a brevet on some of our favorite roads in north King and Snohomish counties.  Paris-Brest-Paris will only be a year away, so if that is in your plans, this is the year to build your base for a successful ride in 2019.

Ride Summary:

Starting in the Kirkland, we ride northeast towards the Snoqualmie Valley and Monroe to find some rolling terrain further on around Lake Roesiger and Jordan Road.  Then we ramble along the Centennial bike trail and Route 9 to the turnaround control point at Lake McMurray.  We return on a route almost due south back to Kirkland, where we will finish at the Chainline Brewery.  Total climbing will be about 4,800 feet.  At the finish, lift a cold drink of your choice, and trade stories with friends about your ride just completed and new adventures to come.

This is an early season ride, so come prepared with lights and reflective gear.  If the weather looks like rain, you will avoid the wrath of fellow riders and score points with fenders and a buddy flap.  As usual, there is no official support on the route, although we pass through several communities with services.  A final cue sheet and map will be posted the week of the ride.

RUSA membership is not required for this ride, but there are good reasons to join. SIR membership gets you a discount, as well as status in the cycling community.  If your RUSA and SIR memberships are not up-to-date, we would greatly appreciate taking care of this before the ride in order to simplify the sign in, although we will have membership and renewal forms at the start.

We welcome new members!
